You are about to watch Dr. Kelly perform an endoscopic breast augmentation. Endoscopy is a surgical technique that involves the use of an endoscope, which is a special viewing instrument that allows a surgeon to see images of the body's internal structures through very small incisions. The endoscope consists of two parts: A tubular probe fitted with a tiny camera and bright light, which is inserted through a small incision; and a viewing screen, which magnifies the transmitted images of the body's internal structures. During the surgery, Dr. Kelly watches the screen while moving the tube of the endoscope through the surgical area.
The advantage of using endoscopy is that your scars are smaller and more likely to be hidden in a less visible place like the navel or underarm. Because the incisions can be smaller, bleeding, bruising, and swelling can be significantly reduced. You can recover and return to work more quickly.
