Cleft Lip & Palate ReconstructionDrs. Kelly and Herman perform Cleft lip and palate surgery for children and adults afflicted with this congenital deformity. They both have extensive experience treating these deformities. Dr. Kelly trained with Dr. Ralph Millard, the "father" of modern cleft lip surgery. He also is a founding member of the Miami Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Center. Dr. Herman travels the globe performing these surgeries as part of Operation Smile. He performs these operations in areas where no health care is available literally transforming the affected child’s life. In newborns, surgery usually begins at 3 months of age and the goal is to have all surgeries completed by the child’s first birthday.
