If you live with unwanted hair, you've probably tried some of the typical solutions, such as shaving, waxing, and electrolysis. If so, you've also found that:
Laser hair removal is the most convenient method to get rid of unwanted body hair because it's the most permanent. The non-invasive treatment utilizes laser energy to produce hair reduction.
At Miami Plastic Surgery, we utilize Candela's GentleMAX® laser, the newest and most powerful way to remove unwanted hair. Unlike other laser treatments, the GentleMax® laser system has been designed to work on any patient with minimal risk (even dark skin tones) and can remove hundreds of hair follicles at the same time.
Combining the capabilities of two Best-in-Class lasers, GentleLASE and GentleYAG, the GentleMAX® is the first multiple wavelength workstation that can be used to address several aesthetics treatments including skin tightening, leg and facial vein removal, vascular and pigmented lesion removal and hair removal.
The GentleMax® laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into the skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat, damaging the hair follicles.
Some patients experience minimal discomfort with each laser pulse that is often compared to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. However, Candela's patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ technology protects the upper layers of your skin with short cooling burst of cryogen to maximize patient safety and comfort. For some patients, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment. Be sure to discuss this with one our medically trained aestheticians.
Any area can be treated, except around the eyes. The upper lip, face, neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, chest and back can all be treated.
The number of sessions depends on the area being treated and the condition of your skin. Sessions should be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart.
Patients scheduled for hair removal should avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. Any hair should be completely removed by shaving, and your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or skin tanning products before laser treatment. The intended treatment area should not be exposed to sunlight or tanning booth light for 14 days.
