Dr. Kelly's Guide To Injectables

Below are the common treatment areas for injectables with Dr. Kelly. Depending on the specific area being treated, Dr. Kelly recommends a specific type of injectable treatment. Learn more about each treatment area below.

HA Fillers (Hyaluronic Acid)

This treatment addresses the natural loss of fat that occurs with aging of the cheeks and upper mid face. As the deep facial fat goes away with age, the cheeks become flat and the structures below droop. Refilling those areas with fillers rejuvenates the face and lifts those falling structures. Most patients will need 1-2cc to rejuvenate these areas. Juvederm Voluma lasts up to 2 years. Restylane Lyft lasts up to 1 year.

Non-HA Filler

Lasts longer than Restylane Lyft, but not as long as Voluma

Sculptra

Requires 2-3 session for results to last 24 months. Poly-L-lactic acid builds collagen gradually; can be used as volume replacement or for texture improvement

HA Filler

Helps eliminate the unwanted shadow in the tear trough area. No filler is FDA approved for this area, but Restylane, Restylane Silk or Vollure all work well. In my experience in most patients, these products can last up to 1 year in this area. Vollure can last up to 18 months. Maximal swelling occurs the morning after treatment, then starts to recede. End result can take up to 1 week to see. Sleeping with back elevated can help reduce some swelling if done the first night. Ice packs in this area are important as well.

HA Fillers

HA Fillers e.g. Volbella or Restylane Silk work best to treat this area. Filler can be injected into the lip itself to restore volume, then the individual fine lines are treated as well. This can all be done without making the overall lips bigger. Application of ice before treatment can make this procedure essentially painless and use of ice afterwards can help lessen swelling or bruising. The most swelling is seen the morning is after the treatment and results can take up to a week to see.

HA Filler

Can be added to increase the volume of the lips and make them larger. Volbella or Restylane Silk work best. Adding volume over 2-3 sessions can give the most natural results. Most swelling occurs in first 24 hours after treatment. Ice can help minimize the selling that occurs. Results can last 3-12 months depending on which filler and how much is used.

Radiesse

Used to treat loss of volume. This will help cover veins, tendons and bones giving the hand a fuller, more youthful appearance. Hands will seem overly full for 1st week, but settle down to a natural result after 1 weeks’ time. Results last 12-18 months.

Botox/Dysport

Used to treat platysma bands. Results last 3-4 months.

Sculptra

A series of 2-3 injections, 1 month apart to soften the appearance of horizontal lines, “crepey skin”.

HA Filler

Used to hide a bump or hump of the nose, by filling above and below that area. It can also be used to “straighten” a nose if it is more hollow one side than the other.

Voluma

Used to fill the loss of fat in the temples with aging. The patient usually needs 1 cc per side as a minimum. It may need to be repeated after a month if the volume loss is severe. It lasts up to 2 years.

HA Fillers

used to augment a recessive chin. Results will last 6 month to a year. May need to be repeated depending on the severity of the chin recession.
